Bama fans. They stretch our patience; put our commitment to the love of our fellow man to the ultimate test; and offend our eyes with a shade of red in which most hookers would not be caught dead. Their commitment to their team, win or tie (even though ties are no longer tolerated due to the overtime rules which are an abomination in Your sight), teaches us loyalty by negative implication. Their "graciousness" in victory instructs us that turning the other cheek is preferable to risking 20 to life for felony homicide. Their invisibility in defeat teaches us that there is indeed a higher power who loves us and wants us to be happy. We yearn for that happiness, for that oneness with all that is good and right in the world and will be again, possibly as early as NovEmBeR.
