They represent order, authority, trust bestowed and vows taken.
They are not to be siezed by cheap thugs or unhinged anarchists. Symbols matter -- look at your icon. Some more than others. The UGA hedges, Samford Hall, the Toomer Oaks, -- I am sure even the Gators have something. The Stone of Destiny is just a big rock but to the people of Scotland it is much more.
