An Army ALERACT (Army wide order) was just published banning any
flags, other than state or national flags, from any installation. The only caveat is those that are currently part of a museum display.
In addition, earlier in the month, the Army ordered the removal of the Soldiers' promotion packet will no longer have their picture in it. It's also rumored that their names will be removed as well, leaving only their 'service number' to identify who's who. Great move, IMO, this will remove any bias during promotion selection

Two things- there are some other exceptions, like works of art. Secondly, I was told once that my official photo "looked fat" and could be a discriminator even though I met ht/wt standards throughout my career. If only they had removed photos 25 years ago. I could be Chief of Staff of the Army.
