for a position in our company. The candidate was fine, nothing outstanding in terms of personality or subject matter expertise. We briefly discussed where we were each from and I said, "Alabama." He lit up and started talking about growing up in Birmingham and Mobile. Interview lasted about 30 minutes.
I get an e-mail from him later that day thanking me for my time and highlighting his qualifications. At the end of the email he said, "Here's to a great year for the Tide!"
I replied with something like, "Thanks for coming in and talking to us. BTW, I hope my Auburn Tigers have a great year as well."
5 minutes after I hit send, my phone rang. It was him apologizing all over himself.
I wonder what company ended up hiring him?
