a buddy from college lives out there and a few of us went to see him. went to a high school game Monday night, left at the half due to a bad snowstorm. tuesday I thought "what would Wayne do?" so I walked around the campus while it was snowing. pretty campus. mostly all restaurants were some type of Asian. went in one and got wings and chicken on a stick to take back to hotel. tuesday night went to a Seattle Kraken game. they are in their second NHL season. went to practice tuesday. wednesday wallked back to campus and got a pizza. hung out with the guys that do social media for basketball. asked a lot of questions. watched them film a couple of the players throwing snowballs at each other. arena was nice. people were super nice. they love our Italian coach Bruce Pearl. I told them he's Jewish. the old men working as ushers wanted to talk to me about Auburn. they were excited to see the Tigers in person. met a guy in hotel lobby that graduated early 90's and had his 8th grade daughter. she had a basketball to sign. team pulled up to hotel after a shoot around and I took her to meet coach Pearl at the entrance and she said "I'm going to cry". her dad took pictures and Pearl had the team sign her basketball. they live in San Francisco. I don't think they can make it to many games but she is a huge Auburn fan. met a nice family from Huntsville, their daughter is a junior at Auburn and dances at the basketball games. Auburn had a nice turnout at the game. coach Pearl told us they are going back to Seattle next year to play Gonzaga. I said "I'm a one and done" but now I may go back.
there were 2 10th graders sitting by me right behind the bench. nice kids but this one was getting on the players nerves. KD especially. kid said "fundamentals" a million times. everything was fundamentals. one of the managers back at the hotel said he wanted to knock the kid in the head. when they were gone, the guy said to me "thank God those kids left" then they came back and sat down again and stayed until the end.
after the game tried 3 Ubers. none spoke english or knew where the arena was. it was 19 degrees. this man that spoke to us earlier pulled up and gave us a ride to hotel about a mile away. he refused to let us pay. his son is a freshman on the Huskies. we are big fans of him now. lol.
