"Bruce Pearl...."

short story...

my daughter's fiancé has been battling a terrible cancer for over a year now. Big Auburn fan. Big basketball fan. Big Bruce Pearl fan.
Through a couple of really good contacts, Bruce learned about this man and made contact several months ago. Phone numbers were exchanged. A few phone conversations have taken place over several months. Bruce called him up Monday to check on him and to invite him, my daughter and his parents to the game today. Nobody was sure he'd be physically able to make it today but he was determined as he has been the whole time and they did make it. Bruce was waiting on them in the parking lot of The Arena when they pulled in with a parking spot close by saved for them. Took them to will call for tickets, made pictures, visited and seated them in an excellent location with access to free food courts in the terrace level. Aubie and some cheerleaders made their visits and photo ops. He really rolled out the red carpet for all of them. To say it was a memorable and special day for all of them is an understatement. If you were watching the game you may have noticed Bruce holding 2 AUtlive honorary signs during the AUtlive recognition that everyone in the arena participated in as ESPN cut back to game at end of halftime. One those 2 was this young mans sign. Bruce has gone way out of his way to make their day a most special day. I'm a big Bruce Pearl fan. I love Bo Jackson also, he sent a personalized video message couple of weeks ago. Cancer sucks.
