Eagles. State Farm Arena - Atlanta. Feb 7, 2020. *

==============================

We bought tickets on STUBHUB. Looked at all that were available. Prices range from $3500 on the 2nd row on the floor to $300 in the nose bleeds. Bounced around a bunch from site to site and finally settled on “Terrace” tickets. A few dollars more than lower level in the upper corners but the difference between $375 in the corner and $425 looking straight at the band in the terrace seemed negligible at that point.

So, we get to the arena, bought the wife a T-shirt to go with her 1994 Hell Freezes Over Tour one.  Ask a guy in a tie where we need to go to get to our seats. He calls a kid over and tells him to "escort" us to the “Zac Brown Social Club”. This kid walks us halfway around the arena to another security check where we are given arm bands and told, to paraphrase Dire Straits—your money ain’t for nothin’ and your food and drinks are free. We were then shown to seats in a four-seat box, with swivel CHAIRS and a waitress waiting to take our orders. Only downer was we had eaten at Ruth Chris Steakhouse (it is our 25th Anniversary after all) and couldn’t take advantage of the food.  I did take advantage of the Macallan.

So, BATJAC is looking like an anniversary genius (first time ever) …. then the other couple in the box comes back from the buffet and we introduce ourselves and they ask where we’re from. We say Enterprise, Alabama and they say, “SO ARE WE!!!!!!!" Turns out they own Michael’s Jewelry in Enterprise. There are two-thirds as many people in the arena as live in the city of Enterprise…and we wind up in the same box. Conversation goes on….Yada yada ….“we closed early today to come”….”we’re celebrating our 25th anniversary”… “congratulations” , etc….. “before we opened our store in Enterprise, it was in Daleville”….”When were you in Daleville?” “1989-1998”….. “No ______”….. “ No really we were” …. “I can’t believe this”.

Bottom line, the BATJACs are celebrating our 25th anniversary, sitting in a four-seat box in a crowd of 16K+, and the other two people in our box are from our hometown of 26K. AND THE GUY AND HIS WIFE IN THE BOX WITH US...….. SOLD ME MRS BATJAC's ENGAGEMENT RING IN 1994. I couldn’t make this up if I wanted to. I did ask him to tell her I paid $10K for her ring, but we all knew better. The four of us had a blast.

I don’t think we’ll ever forget the 7th of February 2020.  Very shortly after that the year went to $hit.

From left to right, Vince Gill, Timothy Schmidt, Don Hendley, Deacon Frye, Joe Walsh, and guitarist Stuart Smith, who has been with them since 01.  He and Walsh got into some guitar games that were incredible.
