No. It is a failure of your party and y’all willingly allowed it. That was

Foresight.

Christianity took a massive hit because Christians did not stand by their beliefs.   The prospect of overturns g Roe V Wade allowed y’all to embrace evil.   And that is what it is.  Pure Evil and Christians supporting Trump have blood of innocent people on their hands.

i should be thankful that Christian’s standards no longer matter since being gay is the least of the outrage

and are someone for whom -- though we are at odds on some matters -- I have great respect.

So I want to give a proper reply to what I believe are honest and importanrt points and do that by dealing with the legitimate substance even as I find the tone a bit caustic and at the least "direct."

Are all who voted for Trump guilty of his crimes?  I am not sure about that.  It is hard to make the case that in 2016 tone could forsee the events of 1/6/21.  Are DEM voters in 1964 guilty of the deaths in Vietnam along w/ LBJ?  Are the voters in NY state who elected Cuomo as Governor guilty of the nursing home deaths?  Once this game is begun it tends to wander into a lot of unintended territory.

Christianity took a massive hit because Christians did not stand by their beliefs.   I could not agree more.  Not so much in voting for Trump -- many voted not so much for him as against what the other candidate promised to do and stand for.  But too many so called evangelicals overly embraced and defended and over-allied themselves to a vulgar, profane, nasty man whose lifestyle they abhor in the abstract. The error was not so much embracing Trump but the idolatry of embracing a political set of gods.  Loving the world and valuing the city of man more than the city of God certainly was a massive compromise. Time does not permit listing the catalog of first principle betrayals of XY that allowed people to see Trump as other than what he was -- the least objectionable option in a binary system.

For many of us the pro-life issue is also about spilling blood.  The rest of the reply is above.

This is the obvious sticking point for you and me and yet not the great chasm as much as one aspect of what I believe the chasm is.  As a XN I believe we are God's.  We are most free inside his purpose for us and not outside of it.  The message of the NT and the one I stand behind is not "quit being gay, or immoral, or promoting abortion or being an embezzeler or a lying politician or a Proud Boy rioter but be reconciled to God.   God does not say "Be straight for I am straight" but "be holy for I am holy. "

I believe that it is the gospel -- God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself -- and not any political, cultural or social message that is the need of the moment.   When some XNs traded the message of a crucified and risen Savior for some tepid sauce called family values that was a betrayal far greater than a vote for Trump.

So we can perhaps find common ground at WHAB on many things and can also learn from one another in those areas where we do not have agreement.  We are . . . .  what?  Fellow alums?  Southerners?  I do not know if  you think "friends" is accurate but from my side I would be honored to have you consider me in that way.

“There is no character, howsoever good and fine, but it can be destroyed by ridicule, howsoever poor and witless. Observe the ass, for instance: his character is about perfect, he is the choicest spirit among all the humbler animals, yet see what ridicule has brought him to. Instead of feeling complimented when we are called an ass, we are left in doubt.”  Mark Twain
