"I am finally going to have my say, and I will be done. It is long - deal with it"

Other have discussed this but after a little digging, I found facts, lots sof them. Black lives matter, becuase ALL lives matter, period. But the bottom line is, you are far more likely to be killed by a person that looks just like you than a person of a differnt paint scheme. Please refer to the link below. Feel free to begin to canvas back as far as you want (I spent way too much time doing it - and gave you 2 years the easy way), the narrative does not change. These are sheer numbers - put them in the context of % of population and you realize how out of balance the numbers are.

On the policing subject - I appreciate the job they do, I have friends who have been officers for years and they are good men. I also believe we have made a mistake by militarizing them, and we have empowered them beyond their scope of responsiblity. I believe there is a contingent of them who are "shoot first", but I also belive the majority of them see it as a last resort.

One last thought - every single person on this board has seen racial injustice at some level in their lives. By the way, it has nothing to do with where you grew up (cause most of us grew up in AL). It has to do with the times we grew up in. I say this, becuase I have expereinced far more shocking situations of racisim outside the south, than in the south. I strive to treat every person I encounter with respect - regardless of their paint scheme. Me and Ms. Boro work hard to instill that into our children. I am not happy with how people are expressing their "displeasure", I feel most of this is driven by ignorance and people just wanting to be a part of something (even if they don't realize what they are being a part of). Bottom line is this:

I believe that this is a practical world and that I can count only on what I earn. Therefore, I believe in work, hard work.

I believe in education, which gives me the knowledge to work wisely and trains my mind and my hands to work skillfully.

I believe in honesty and truthfulness, without which I cannot win the respect and confidence of my fellow men.

I believe in a sound mind, in a sound body and a spirit that is not afraid, and in clean sports that develop these qualities.

I believe in obedience to law because it protects the rights of all.

I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all.

I believe in my Country, because it is a land of freedom and because it is my own home, and that I can best serve that country by "doing justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with my God."
