growing up in Alabama, or lower Alabama in the panhandle, Pat Sullivan and Terry Beasley were who we wanted to be when we played ball in the yard at a young age.
I screenshot this post on FB about losing his big brother, so I will share it here......
"Like every other "Auburn kid" I knew, I wanted to be Pat Sullivan. My journey was different, I had his DNA, I was expected to be him. In Alabama when your brother wins the Heisman you learn to sign autographs at 6 and the shadows of fame are long. As I got older, I realized that I would never be the quarterback, athlete, or Auburn icon that he was. I would never be quick enough, smart enough or have the ability he had as an athlete. But as I matured, I realized I could try my damndest to be the husband, father, community leader, and friend that he was to so many. While that is another goal I'm sure I will fall short of, it is a goal I will never quit trying to achieve. I will never forget as a teenager you sneaking me the last sips of beer in your can at the lake and I will never quit trying to impact the people I meet and the community I live in like you did. R.I.P # 7."
