RE: “I have reviewed the game film and as a result i know that the hit on Trask

neither dirty play nor intentional.  In the heat of the action and from concern for my player I spoke rashly.  On further review it appears that our player held Davidson and then blocked him into our QB.  I apologize to the AU player, and to their team and coaching staff and fans.  I know that as a HC for a major collegiate team I have a responsibility to choose my words more carefully.” Dan Mullen

Did anyone hear read or hear this.  Me neither

 Here's what he did say:

Mullen was asked Monday during his weekly press conference about his remarks, which he made during a halftime interview on the CBS broadcast of Florida’s 24-13 win against Auburn, and took the opportunity to attempt an about-face.

“I’ll put it this way: Maybe the use of that word, maybe that wasn’t the right word at the time," Mullen said. "I don’t think that was being coached or there was intent to go injure him on that play. I think that’s something when you look at player safety, we’ve got to really pay attention. I know as a league everyone wants to preach player safety, player safety, player safety -- talk about it, but what are we doing about it? On those type of hits, I bet if those type of hits happen on Sunday they would have been called because they’re talking about player safety.

"Maybe the choice of words at the time was wrong, but it’s more a debate of, ‘I think those plays we want to try to get out of the game.’ Plays where guys have a significant opportunity to get injured. Those are the plays, helmet-to-helmet hits, plays where players have a great chance of being injured we want to get out of the game.”

What a dick

Hey Bozo, tell your running back not to lower his head when he is about to get up close and personal with a tackler, a'right? If your guy doesnt lower head then he is drilled in the chest- it was a clean hit.... (did I just write that?)

IF, the NCAA Gestapo starts calling those type of plays targeting, then it would be time to have the players remove their pads and stick flags in their belts..
