Apparently the Germans aren't using that "beautiful, clean, coal" . *

The majority of their energy production comes from coal. The second major source was nuclear but Merkle pandered to the Greens and started to shut it down. Renewables could not make it up..so natural gas picked up the slack (as did importing nuclear power from across the border with France).
And here is my problem with “climate change”: it is being used as an economic weapon against the US because of CO2 we released generations ago. In reality, the US is actually at the forefront in terms of actual CO2 reductions and that is WITHOUT our adhering to punitive treaties like Kyoto or Paris. Europe trades offsets and just shifts their per capita CO2 production to africa, whereas China and India are INCREASING their green house gas emissions.
Either it is a problem or it is not. If it is then everyone must reduce emissions, not selective enforcement against the US. Carbon offsets are crap
