Obviously he is responsible for his actions, which if true as alleged, are shameful. But let's not kid ourselves. Assistant coaches are not the villains here. Shoe companies and agents funneling money through assistant coaches, buying and selling players like a real-life fantasy league, just to line their pockets and those of their bosses and shareholders, is not what college basketball should be about.
I hope Persons has an opportunity to cooperate and divulge what he knows to help bring down the ones pulling the strings at the top, and maybe come to terms with the bad decisions he made by helping fix the environment that led to his downfall.
