Jake Holland Boo'ed By Auburn Student Section....

Regardless of how dismayed I've been with JH's play at the LB position, boo'ing is ridiculous by anyone who calls themselve a fan.  Blogging our frustrations is one thing, but gametime requires "real fans" to put that crap away and support whoever the coaches put in the line-up.

Having said that, my displeasure with JH seems to stem from the fact the guy is a "senior" and has had plenty of time to develop his game at this level.  Allowing the opposition's RB to take him out of every play is unacceptable.  He has the uncanny ability to avoid blocking by taking the wrong direction of pursuit, eg, he shifts left of the blocker leaving the right side (open field) vulnerable.  This translated in MSU's QB reeling off runs of 50+ yards.  He also did this in a couple of goal-line defenses that allowed the QB to make it into the endzone untouched.  It almost appears as though he doesn't know the weak points of the schema and just flips a coin on which direction he takes in shaking off the blocks coming his way.

EJ came to his defense in an article this week:

After reviewing the MSU tape, Johnson felt both of his inside linebackers had a good game.  “A lot of (Holland’s) issues were just fatigue, so it was good to get Kris back for that reason,” Johnson said. “But Jake played as well as Kris did overall, had more tackles, more production and really fit the run pretty good.”

Frost would've had twice the # of tackles had he played the full game (see 2nd half turn-around on yardage up the middle) and I'm confident MSU would've probably had to settle for at lease one FG instead of 2 wide open TD runs.  Frost made his own bed that resulted in limited play time...but I firmly believe that Holland is a liability.  Frost, as a sophomore, has more upside than Holland and should see the majority of time at middle LB with Holland used in relief.  I believe I've aired this concern in the proper forum and not in one that publically embarasses the athlete or his family that might be in attendance at the game.  My observation isn't any attempt to disagree with the coaches, its simply an observation made with hind-sight of events thats occurred to date this season.

The student section should be reminded that they get their tickets for next to nothing (65% off general public pricing) and for that to continue, they need to exercise a bit more decorum by embracing their own peers who represent the Auburn University football program.  War Eagle!

NEVER SAW AUBURN GET BEAT BY WOFFORD AT HOMECOMING WHILE THE ENTIRE STUDENT BODY STOOD IN THE STANDS AND CHEERED THEM ON NEVER A BOO TO BE HEARD AND AT THE START OF THE GAME SANG THE ALMA MATER WITH ALL OUR HEARTS.

HELLS BELLS  BY THE TIME I WAS THE AGE OF THESE ENTITLED KIDS (HAVING GRADUATED AT 18 YEARS OLD) I WAS COMMANDING 200 COMBAT ENGINEERS IN THE SOUTHEAST ASIAN PARADISE WHILE THE G*D D*AMNED CHICOMS TRIED TO SHOOT MY REAR END OFF.

WHAT THESE LITTLE BABIES NEED IS A GOOD WAR AND A GOOD DEPRESSION TO SET THEIR LITTLE MIND IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.  I HAD MY WAR AND DEPRESSION AND IT DID ME A DAMNED SITE OF GOOD.
