The Trouble I Am Having With Your Pro-Petrino Stance
is that you assume that he won't be a puppet, too. It seems to me that his only demonstration of "independence" in his career is an "I don't give a #badword# arrogance" before he completely screws over his employer.
I also don't agree with your assumption that Gus will be a puppet. But we are dueling speculation at this point.
Don't get me wrong: I am not against Petrino because of the motorcycle ride or because he was unfaithful to his wife. I am against him because he is a fraud. He lies repeatedly to people who matter and people who don't. His SEC "success" is overinflated by half. He is yet to win the first division title at Arky. #badword#, he is yet to win a game that would have him sniffing at a divison title. And, as we showed you above, the sending players to the NFL argument is weaker than Auburn's defensive front 7. The Petrino you support is an illusion. He is not an elite college head coach. And while he mmay be the best coach available for some program out there, he is not the best for Auburn. He is complicit with some of the very incompetence you decry.
The Gus I support is a promise, I realize. Neither is tethered to the actual real world success we desire, but I will take promise, youth, and a bit of dignity over Bobby Petrino every day of the week and twice on the weekend.

He hires the girl he is banging for a job she isn't qualified for, gets in a motorcycle wreck, gets a state trooper to cover it up, lies to his employer and lets said employer embarrass themselves by expressing their sympathy for your situation. I think I would rather have a puppet Partino than a "free to do what he wants" Petrino.
