#2 and OSU #3, and I essentially dismiss Houston solely because of SOS.
I respect OSU's SOS and Alabama's, and I respect that each won all but one of their games playing in good leagues. Because I dogged Houston using SOS only, does logic say that I must rank OSU above Bama if OSU's SOS > Bama's SOS? Am I constrained to consider SOS only in ranking OSU vs. Bama because it's the only criterion I used when dropping UH out of the top ten? I don't think so. I rank Bama above OSU because Bama's only loss was to #1 while OSU's only loss was to a 6-6 team.
So am I ignoring/disrespecting all of OSU's good wins, including a conference championship? No, that's why I have them at #3 over other one-loss teams.
My argument is that the use of one criterion only in evaluating one team does not necessarily imply lack of logic if I use a different criterion (or criteria) in evaluating others. If it is, do away with all human polls. Auburn would probably come out better that way!
