Pretty much a repeat of what I said on Facebook with a WHAB twist:
It is understandable that you are concentrating your focus on the fight that you have ahead, as well as your family and those closest to you. However, I would encourage you to try to stay at least marginally connected to the board as circumstances allow. We don't expect or need up to the minute details of your treatment, condition, or hair loss (unless it helps you to talk about it, in which case--bore us with details!) but what I have seen and what I know is that you have a community of people who care about you...even the assholes and idiots...and that being able to tap into that friendship and concern can help you carry your burden. Even if just a tiny bit, I think that in the battle you have ahead, the smallest bits may make a difference.
We can't walk this path for you, most of us won't even be with you along the way, but if we can tell the obnoxious joke that makes you smile as you take the next step...well that's what WHAB friends are for. (Although with esophageal cancer, I'm figuring the recipe posts won't be on your must read list.)
I am reminded of how our friend HoustonReb! kept the true terminal nature of his cancer private here in Wayne's World until very near the end...in large part because he didn't want the nature of his interaction here to change.
I think for many of us, that was our first inkling that this "internet community" phenomenon was more reality based that we realized.
I remember that his fiancee posted after his death something to the effect that HR! enjoyed the times he was able to read and post on the board even at his sickest because it was "normal" (as though WHAB has ever been normal!) when the rest of his world had taken a decidedly abnormal turn.
I would not presume to tell you HOW to do this. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we are here for you in whatever capacity you need and choose.
And my prayers are with you and your family.
