CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT These other programs were single digits. And the defense number, at ~700bn, does not include the wars we are fighting and other national security apparatus expenditures . . . which have been calculated all together at 1.2trn. That is 1/3 of the budget. So if we allow the real national security apparatus number, SS and the Meds the real problems are almost 75% of the budget. And the time horizon outlook for these things is ridiculous. Medicare being the worst coming down the pipe. On our current trajectory given old numbers that are now worse . . . in 2030 when my son is hopefully having his family the US will be spending 40% of gdp on basically 3 things. By the time he is 50 it will be close to 50%. This is not because we have these poor people programs. It is a nice republican talking point but it is really not relevant.
