.....it seems inevitable that we just go ahead and lose our self-respect, too.
Granted, AUBURN* isn't expected to go as far as UGA, but any declension is a signal that the 5-BCS-in-a-row-soon-to-be-former-SEC is surprisingly willing to throw away its standards, too.
The Southeastern Conference didn't wear Miami/Oregon uniforms like this. We never saw reason to so humiliate ourselves for the uniform hustlers.
The Southeastern Conference adhered to stability.
But, with the Conference, as we have known it, about to be radically altered such that it will require a new name (is Conference USA still being used?), I suppose it little matters that adopting the values of the uniform whores, like Under Armour, should follow......or, in this case, harken.
I am already in mourning over this melancholy prospect.
In recalling a conference not yet dead, I am, at once, mindful of Churchill's recollections of the old British Empire:
