Well no. But......in situations like my brother, where he has been a pilot for United Airlines since jan 1993, and making some major bucks, the retirement should be pro rata based on your income each year. IMHO.
Why??? Does the fact that he continues to propsper make his service to teh country less valuable than the guy who decides to run a bait shack? He earned that retirement. It was part of what was promised him when he joined the Air Force. It was deferred pay for his service. He could have gotten out when his obligation ended after flight training and gone to work as a pilot then earning big bucks but he chose to stay.
