CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN:
END OF CONTEXT
Auburn and Alabama excel at undergrad. UAB is trying too hard to become a commuter version of AU and AL. All this focus on this crap . . . football stadiums, synchronized swimming, undergrad BS is sapping a once great medical and research institution . . . we are losing great people left and right down here where the rubber meets the road. UAB needs to focus on research and medicine. It needs to quit building floor space that is not filled. It needs to concentrate on people . . . those people that do world class research and world class medicine. Nobody is ever gonna care about UAB football . . . not to offset the cost anyway. It is very difficult to do great research, great medicine and great undergrad. The UFs of the world are in unique situations with money, space, tax base, population . . . UAB is going to scuttle itself with all this undergrad dithering.
