"Finally some time for recollection."

END OF CONTEXT

What a week. Travel nightmares notwithstanding, one of the best of my life. Game thoughts... The atmosphere was awesome. The Auburn Family came en masse and totally overwhelmed Glendale. Everywhere we went, airports, Vegas, Hoover Dam, the desert in the middle of nowhere was packed with Auburn people.

As for the game, it was obvious that the layoff really affected our passing game. Off the top of my head, the pass to Smith in the endzone, the overthrow of Darvin were sure touchdowns. Also, The overthrow of TZac on the fade to the sideline in the second half was at least a field goal taken of the board. Also, whoever is responsible for the turf in that stadium should have their ass whipped. I haven't had a chance to watch the first half of the replay, or hear much sports-talk, but I sure as #badword# hope that was talked about by others. Players for both sides were slipping all over the place, and if it was responsible for Mike Slade's injury that's ashame. I bet Under Armor would like to ass rape the stadium ground crew with a bat covered in razor wire. Just totally unacceptable for a game of this magnitude to be played on such a #badword#ty INDOOR field.

If this game was played the week after the SECCG, we blow the #badword#ing doors off of Oregon. Their defense was much better than I expected them to be, but we were just off. It was obvious that Cam was struggling from the outset. Lots of plays where he'd normally get the corner and go for big gains were stopped or he went down. Not sure where he got hurt, but it was obvious he was playing through pain. That made the play selection in the 2nd half more vexing. Why continue to run Cam when he was obviously in pain? Why didn't we run Dyer more? I'm not going to bitch too much. We won the MNC, but still we were all wondering about the play selection in the stands, especially in the 2nd half.

One thing this game does is lay the "2010 Auburn is a one-man team" argument to bed forever. Sure, Cam is obviously a huge part of our offense, but we don't get to where we are by the virtue of Cam alone. The defensive performance was outstanding. It was fun to watch. Oregon had no answer for it. We play this game 10 times, and I think we win no less than 8 times. I was also less than impressed with the Oregon fans. If they are representative of PAC-10 fans, it doesn't say much for the PAC-10. They were nice enough folks, don't get me wrong. They just didn't exactly exude a similar passion for college football. War Damn Eagle fellas. I'm glad for the entire the Auburn Family. It is nice that the new ones get to experience this with all of the old codgers like BIGJOE and AuSemperFi. I've been an Auburn fan for as long as I can remember. I had the good grace to be born in the Barfield era, so my earlies memories are of Pat Dye led Auburn teams. Other than a few years in there, I've been blessed to see some really good Auburn football teams, along with a few of the very great ones. It is nice to see this team legitimize the efforts of those who came before them and never got the chance.

Unfortunately my seats weren't exactly conducive to great picture tanking. I did the best I could with my 300 mm lens resting against the railing.
