From a Letter I sent to Coach Chiz knowing he wouldn't read it but it made me feel good to write it.
Other Auburn teams have achieved greatness but the Auburn Family, like Moses and the tribes of Israel, has wandered in the wilderness for over 50 years hoping for a National Championship. We have had our days of glory but have never quite been able to cross over the river. Someone or something has always stood in our way. Some years it was on the field where our dreams were dashed. Some years, like ’83, ’93 and ’04 it was the opinions of others that stood in our way despite what happened on the field. This year you have gotten past all that. You have beaten not only the opponents on the field, but those who would attack you from behind who never suited up for a game in their lives. When you take us across that river to the promised land it will be worth every Doug Barfield coached game I ever attended.
