A finance.yahoo.com piece shows how little impact this crap has on the rest of the country, so any anger at the situation outside of the 4 or 5 states affected is almost all emotion. (I say 4 or 5 because Texas is only affected as far as the drilling situation is concerned at this point).
Obviously Anderson Cooper can only stay down there and show endless footage of oil covered birds until ratings hit a certain point. Will the relief well's hopeful success in mid-August be a headline that gets an "Oh, I thought that was fixed", or a "Thank goodness it is all over" response from the folks in Kansas, or Ohio?
Knowing that there are still a smattering of Katrina volunteers on the coast building houses for folks, there will always be people that know what is happening, but will the average person?
