CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN:
END OF CONTEXT
most on this board also agree that defense is at least mentioned in the Constitution and SS/Mcare/Mcaid and many others are not.

The CDC and FDA combined equal 1/3 of the No Child Left Behind program of the Dept. of Education. HUD is 5 times as large as the EPA. The State Departments line item for "Multilateral Development Banks" (whatever the hell that is) is almost exactly the same as its line item for Israeli Defense Financing (which some would question, but fail to point out that their neighbor Egypt also get about 1/2 as much from the same State Dept., where is the logic?). I'm sure most believe this comes from DoD, but it is State Dept. money.

I know that you like the 20% rule across the board as a compromise. I, however, would like to see some Constitutional justification for some of these programs and departments. Are the programs beneficial to the nation as a whole and not just a predefined set.

As far as Wayne points out, the Global War on Terror is a farce. To me it is a another method politicians use to bring home the bacon, just like over 1/2 the budget.
