And why not put a bucket of money per day in the hands of everyone who can come and pick it up? And deliver it to those who can't bother to make the trip to pick up their funds?
Because we don't have the money. We are broke. I want everyone to have all the healthcare they need -- including me. And I want everyone to have housing and food and a TV and a cell phone and a car. I just don't know who is going to foot the bill. We are broke.
It is not Christian to give away other people's money -- it is Christian to give away your own money. It is not Christian to enable indolence and irresponsibility. It is Christian to offer help to people that restores the Imago Dei (image of God) by tending the garden, naming the animals and ruling the creation. Helping people w/o actually doing more harm is a tricky deal.
