CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT That means absolutely nothing, Yankee. You are ignorant to how the process works. It doesn't matter who made it for what; it matters who bought the film after it was made, and distribution rights are key.I knew it was going to win, because Summit (the company that bought the film after it was made) is trying to position themselves as a larger player in Hollywood. Much like, say, the Weinsteins did back when they bought Oscars to propel their little company, Miramax, to more prominence. Once they left the company, they no longer continued their insider-trading to keep the Miramax films on the ballot. And how many have been nominated since?
Because it's more than just money -- it's the insider deals that are brokered between studios, talent, etc. It's also about perpetuating certain ideals and concepts that are better for the general revenue for the industry. What, you think awards that people vote on and give to themselves aren't innately incestuous? I assure you they are.
