"I think the criticism of Roof is absurd quite honestly. "

CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN:
END OF CONTEXT

You can't blitz, rush the passer and "be aggressive" when you are playing 11 players the entire game. You have to play bend but don't break and hope for the best. From Charles Goldberg's wrap-up:

"Auburn will counter that with a full year of meshing its coaching staff, its schemes and its players into one play book. Building depth is important, especially for a defense that had to play it vanilla most of the year because of a lack of players. The fact that four defenders had to play all 115 snaps in the Outback Bowl is testament to that."

115 SNAPS! Are you kidding me? McFadden could barely walk most of the game and got out there and gave blood and guts and you want him to blitz? If we can go as little as 2 deep and this defense will be very good. Roof obviously knows what he is doing. He is very well respected and has said himself that he has been handcuffed with what he could do because of the lack of depth. We had a ton of injuries before the season even started that had a huge impact. The fact that freshmen got incredible experience this year will help down the road. There is absolutely NO WAY you can judge Roof based on this year. I actually think he did a pretty good job with the rag tag group he had to work with. I think patience is definitely called for at this point. War Eagle!
