"What does support for our program look like in seasons like this?"

CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN:
END OF CONTEXT

We do not love Auburn only when and only because of success in football.   Our loyalty goes deeper than that.  Neither do we just tolerate sub-standard results and low expectations.  The history and resources mean that we expect success consistent with the last 25 years.  But we are having our second bad season in a row.   It appears that the talent is not there.   The ability of the coaches is impossible to judge from the stands.   Sometimes it is impossible to judge from up close and inside the program.   Knee jerk decisions made of the emotion of a moment are almost always bad ones.   So -- this coach and staff get 5 years.  Continuity is always a strong factor.

Now -- there is a role for the fans.   Don't boo -- don't stay away -- don't carp and whine.   It is time to cheer for Auburn University even in games when cheering for the team is hard.   The fans need to do what they/we can do to pick up the team and reflect well on our great university and the tradition that has been handed to you.  Anyone can cheer and support a winner.   Auburn people need to cheer for and support their school and choose not to detract from her name in this moment.   Be better than other fans.   Be better than the good-time Charlie, band-wagon riding sunshine fans that make up a large segment of the UAT fan base.  The team may or may not be able to step it up this year.   Time for the fans to step it up.   Cheer because we are Auburn.   Athletic success in this year will be a bonus.
