point. In hindsight I suspect the award should have gone to a member of the 1971 MSU squad, either QB Billy Baker or, more appropriately, to a defensive leader such as DE Noah Sachs or LB Matt Adore. That defense completely shut down Sullivan, Beasley, et al., allowing only 30 points, none in the fourth quarter, after AU rang up 52 and 56 the previous two years with PS at QB. Quite an accomplishment that should have been rewarded.
