I think college football is the greatest sport there is, but I regret the development of the head coach as "rock star."
1. Dye and Shug never ran onto the field, leading the players out for kickoff as Tubs and everyone else does now. Let the captains or seniors lead the parade.
2. What's with the head coaches meeting at mid-field after the game? What, they didn't get to chat enough about Sexton and their contracts before the game? Herb Brooks at the '80 USA Olympic hockey win over the Rooskies had it right. Get your butt in the locker room and let the players have the celebration spotlight. Maybe stay out there, though, if your team loses. If it's about sportsmanship, let the captains shake after the game.
3. Players should decide to accept or refuse penalties, not the damn coach on the sidelines.
4. I think it was more fun when the QB called the plays, not 40 blue million coaches on their telephone endorsement deal headphones.

Ah, that was refreshing. ;-)
