Conservative, Catholic, voted for McCain, kids in Catholic school and fine with his decision.  As I posted on the VS, it's simple imo.  It's about civics, respect for the office and having a sense of what things in life are worth making a stink over. 

 I think people in this country look for ways to get "offended" and that is a much worse example  for our kids than forcing them to listen to the President of the United States speak to them about the value of hard work and staying in school.

My own parents and some friends actively support and espouse things I vehemently disagree with.  Some of those things concern bedrock values.  But I don't block  their interactions with my kids.   I don't want my mother discussing her views on abortion with my kids but what about everything else she has to offer them?   I can do the same with the rest of the world, including the President.  Any other approach would require living in a commune and wouldn't be good for my kids.

I found out after the fact that our school did not show the speech due to "noise in the system."  Then I learned some of that noise came from some good friends of mine.  I think their reaction is overboard to say the least and the kids are the losers for it.
