The number 12 is a tough one, as there are many worthy candidates. If I were a bit older the choice would be Jimmy Sidle, whose helmet serves as my icon. But I never got to see Jimmy play. Just heard lots of stories growing up.
Jeff Burger quarterbacked consecutive wins over Bama and led AU to the SEC championship in 1987. The winning drive to beat Bama in 1986 is still one of the most exciting in Tiger football history.
But my favorite player who wore 12 for Auburn is Brandon Cox. I know that many criticized his talent and play, particularly in 07, but I thought he was tough, steady, and a great leader. Let's hope we will be saying such things about Chris Todd after this season.
