On my VHS copy from the 1980s during this close encounter Greedo never shoots, Han kills him in cold blood. It's about time we realized Han is not a lovable smuggler or impish rogue, he's a blood thirsty psychopathic murderer. In the twilight of his career wrapped in the cocoon of his mountain ranch Lucas zoned out and tried to hide his own dark side by pushing the outer limits of believability with the edited version and Alienated many fans. Although some may want to believe, the fact remains that he can't tunnel back through time to change what we all know really happened, and it can't be lost in the space of years between debut and re-release. While he now avoids all contact on this issue he can't make the earth stand still, nor can he forbid an entire planet from recognizing the change he made. His actions will not result in armageddon, but they do have a deep impact on the sci-fi world. He cannot quiet the earth with this silent running, the truth is out there.
