Last year about this time I took a pledge not to criticize the spread or the hiring of Franklin for a year --- not because I thought it would work -- i thought it would fail--- but not in the spectacular way it failed ---- I was thinking a couple of 8-5 or maybe even a 7-6 decison and Tubs would have to jettison Franklin--- but I digress.
I pledged not to criticize the Spread qua Spread for a year because I knew I was so prejudiced against it, I felt I could not be objective. I reserved the right to speak about other problems I saw re: specific game plans, plays call, etc..
Well I feel the same way about this hire. I am so prejudiced against it and fail tot see the logic in it, that I realize I can not be objective. So I am done criticizing the hire --- but ChiZ00K is still open to criticism for his moves, hires, recruiting, etc.

And no my pledge has nothing to do with "getting behind this hire" but more with my ulcer. If Chizik needs my getting behind him to win, then he's a pretty #badword#ty coach and my support won't help.
I hope that in a year's time I will feel like a huge fool for ever questioning this hire. But right now I am chalking this up to another Tommy Joe Eagles/Tom Slater type hire. The best we hope for is Cliff Ellis---some steady 6-6 seasons and a couple of good years and hopefully the NCAA sanctions won't be any more serious than what Ellis got us into.
And i will continue to put 10% of my Duckbucks on Auburn week after week in the Pick Em.
