Yes, the old one-way street which the administration is now selling.
We are expected to show loyalty by rallying around Gene Chizik?
No, we don't have to rally around Gene Chizik or anyone else as some expression of loyalty.
Auburn people, including all on this board, have proven time and time and time again that we are loyal. We no longer have anything to prove on that point.
But, Gene Chizik? How about him? Is he loyal to Auburn? Was he loyal to Auburn when he left for the Texas job? A job as co-defensive coordinator? Tell me about Gene Chizik's loyalty to Auburn. Tell me one thing Gene Chizik has done to command our loyalty such that we "rally" for him.
The guy is 5-19 as a head coach. He is a proven loser. It will taken him at least 14 games to have an even record, and that is if he wins every game.
No, it is up to Gene Chizik to prove to us that he has what it takes.
That's right - prove to us. We foot the bills, we pay the freight, we pay when others embarrass AU, when others encumber great financial loss to AU, when others make AU look foolish. We pay in many ways and in many currencies.
And, don't come with this "support the team" business. Everyone here will pull for the team - and, the team is not to be confused with "rallying around Gene Chizik".
I would suggest that Gene Chizik come calling and do a little rallying of us.
We've shown our loyalty - that is not in question.
It's time that loyalty street became two-way.
I would suggest the so-called coach come earn our support.
And, please - don't come putting "the team" up as a shield, to protect what has stood as a one-way system of loyalty before.
We ain't buying it anymore.
