CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN: END OF CONTEXT What Auburn needs is an answer for Auburn.
Don't get me wrong - I have every respect for Saban and how good he is. I held that same respect when he was at LSU. He is quite remarkable.
But, we are engaging in a losing proposition if our goal is attract an "answer to Saban".
The question, after all, is "who is best for Auburn?"
If we don't circle the wagons and concentrate on making ourselves better, rather than chasing some elusive clone of Saban (who, after all, is mortal), we will continually be confounded as to why the trees are blocking our view of the forest.
We'd damn well better find what's best for Auburn, then take it to the field.
any coach not close to his stature will struggle to recruit. AU needs to change the playing field.
Reminds me of the story of the Aubie bear and the Saban alligator. The Aubie bear can't fight the alligator in the water, it needs to get the Saban alligator on land in order to kill it.
