Saban is just one small piece of the overall puzzle...IMHO
I think Tubberville's unduing was the 13-0 season and the lofty expectations it brought to the powers that be. Toss in programs all around AU that appear to be on the rise, UA, UF, UGA, LSU, and now perhaps UM, and, the some good some not so good seasons since '04, and you had a recipe for prematurely pulling the plug.
And whoever made the decision to hire Tony Franklin, whether it be Tubbeville or his boss(s), should bear the brunt of the blame.
You all know that I dont like your football program...and I say football program cause you have a great university and for the most part a great fan base, but for those of you who love your school and want her football program to be sucessful, I do feel sorry for you. Ive been there and its a lousy feeling.
Mal Moore got lucky when all the pieces fell in place and we were able to get Saban and no it wasnt the genuis of Moore...it was timing and blind luck.
Maybe your power brokers will get it right with this hire......if not, then they will have to pay the cosequences of firing a sucessful coach.
