You need to focus on the FACTS! And not draw ridiculous conclusions. As Wayne has explained, the 12 Monkeys thing that Memphis has been posting is an image of a movie poster. The "They're coming" is part of the movie's ad campaign. He started posting that when posters, usually Bear's Boy, got 12 post monkeys. As far as I can tell, you are the first person to equate racism with this continuing prank. Memphis made the "Screwed in 08" button, which is obviously political parody, during the primary season, I believe. It is a commentary on how unappealing he found all of the candidates to be. It has no particular reference to any particular candidate. Frankly, I don't think it is easy to come to the conclusion that there is "coded racism" (whatever the Hell that is) from Memphis' Whoop! Whoop! Whoop! post. I think you have to be looking, and searching hard, for something that is not there to "find" what you found.
Thus, my satiral thing was an attempt to figure out "what's up with that?" I was not suggesting that anyone was being racist in an ongoing manner (as some have accused me of while jumping on the bandwagon). So have your fun -- but, I will stand by the fact that it can easily be viewed differently by those that don't know the story ... really! And as an Auburn man who values my school's reputation, especially considering this site gets hits from all over, I simply asked a question. Now I know ... I think ...
Satirical. Not satiral. If you were being satirical, you need to work hard on your game. Actually, you need to get some game first and then work hard on it. The "fact" (FACT!) that it can "easily be viewed differently by those who don't know the story" is actually an opinion (OPINION!) of yours. And there were certainly less confrontational ways to get "the story." You could have emailed the admins. You could have sent Memphis a mudmail. Instead, you attributed "coded racism," however satirically or "satirally," to one the very nicest regs on the board. If he weren't so nice, he would probably tell you to #badword# off.
So, in my view, this is not a misunderstanding. You simply #badword#ed up. It is your mistake. Not anyone else's. A good rule is to take some time to figure some things about the board first before leading with your mouth. Not following this rule leads to chronic poast monkeyism.
