"RE: An Honest Request to Auburn Fans"

CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN:
END OF CONTEXT

The corndog reference actually has its roots back in the early 1950's when the legendary LSU alum, Michael deTigraduex, opened his first restaurant in Baton Rouge.  He became well known for his practice of employing LSU athletes, football players mainly, to work in his kitchen.  His restaurant was known for having the best corndogs in the state of Louisiana, and eventually he became the main provider of corndogs to the stadium for LSU football games.  The demand for the corndogs became so great, that the stadium began producing them onsite during games.  The only problem there was that they were forced to use ill-equipped storage rooms as frying facilities and the ventilation was extremely inadequate.  Well, as you can imagine, the smell subtly permeated the entire stadium.  Before you knew it, everyone's clothes and hair were saturated with the stench of corndogs.  No one is really sure why, but that smell seemed to stay with the fans and players and as they traveled to rival stadiums, they carried with them that smell.  Hence the reputation was born.

Of course the ventilation issue has been resolved since then, but story of the smell has stuck.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Go SEC!
