I love Auburn. I mean it. I love Auburn. I don't love Auburn like I love my home town, or the beach or chocolate. I love Auburn because it's like no other place I've ever been. It's a simple place. A pure place. A safe place. A beautiful place. A blessed place.
I'm glad we beat Bama. I'm more than glad we beat Bama. I was probably as tense as anyone before and during this game. I had to remind myself several times that "it's just a game...it's just football". ( And it is JUST football. But DAMN! That was a sweet victory.) But there is something about Auburn. I've tried to find the words to express what I feel every time I return home from a visit, but there really are no words. I just know that this is the place where I have entrusted my children. Hell, I didn't even trust my neighbors with my kids when they were little, but I sleep well at night knowing that my baby is there. I know that my oldest is prepared to meet the challenges of the world because she graduated from Auburn. Auburn laid a foundation for her that will make her successful at whatever she does.
I love Auburn football. But I adore Auburn...the university and the town. Winning the Iron Bown was fantastic. Staying in the stadium, after the game was over, and watching Quentin Groves lead the band as the other football players interacted with students and fans (in such a humble way...throwing kisses...expressing their gratitude) was amazing. Thousands of fans stood in their seats...not speaking...not moving...just taking it all in. Walking to Toomer's Corner after the game was incredible. It was calm. It was peaceful. PatriotVol and I stood, hand in hand, as Toomer's Corner was draped in white. We heard the students cheering. We knew our baby was there.
Auburn has changed me forever. I love Auburn football. But I thank God for Auburn.
