Nearly twenty-four hours have burned since Georgia's unholy beatdown on our beloved Tigers.
Jesus. It still hurts.
I've accepted it, but damn, what a freakin' pimp-slap those doggies gave us.
To me, the game was/is a microcosm of all we've experienced this season. We played hard, got behind, came back, fell apart, and then imploded.
Just some random thoughts now. Bear with me. I'm nursing a hangover.

Nearly twenty-four hours have burned since Georgia's unholy beatdown on our beloved Tigers.
Jesus. It still hurts.
I've accepted it, but damn, what a freakin' pimp-slap those doggies gave us.

All summer, and leading into fall practice, we believed we were ready to rock this season. Certainly not MNC contenders, but we'd be competitive. Since last Monday, practice reports were overwhelmingly positive: "This may have been our best week of preparation this year"-said Tubs on Friday. Supposedly, there were a few scuffles, but no serious fights. Drills had been crisp and efficient. Lots of enthusiasm. Plenty of energy. They were ready. Ready to avenge last years' dreadful showing. Bring the s.h.i.t. on.
Appropriately enough, Brandon started the game by promptly stepping up and throwing a pick on the first play of the game. Very similar to the ol' EVIL BRANDON we recall from early this season: confused, edgy, unsure. The defense seemed to be sleepwalking. The Dawgs marched ahead, 17-3.
But then, just like how we rebounded from a 1-2 start this season, we bounced back smartly in this game. GOOD BRANDON returned, making smart reads, changing plays at the line of scrimmage, minding his three-step-drop and firing laser beams to his receivers. Brandon "Ted Bundy" Cox, was the blue-eyed killer again. The same ice-man we saw against UF, Arky, Vandy, and LSU. The defense roared and I do believe Patrick Lee knocked Georgia's fullback back into 1973 on one bloody hit (my God..if Lee could ONLY play pass defense with the same fire he can deliver a hit..tsk, tsk..).
Our adjustments at halftime were incredible. Just like we were able to snap to against our toughest opponents this year, we stopped Georgia cold on their first drive, intercepted Stafford (thank you, Jerraud Powers) and a few plays later tied the contest at 17-17. When we pulled ahead 20-17, I actually thought we'd win. Up to that point, we'd played our best 3rd quarter of the year.
Now allow me to digress for a moment.
Ever been skydiving?
Nope? Okay. Follow me here. When one "skydives" for the first time, they usually go "tandem" with an experienced partner to open their chute. Reason why is because, when a human leaps from an aircraft on their maiden jump, they often deal with something called spatial disorientation. They lose all concept of time, space, up, down, everything. The experience of jumping into this void of nothingness is so damned overwhelming, many people just blank out.
Enter our 6th year Trussville-born Senior QB.
When the CBS cameras zoomed along the sidelines yesterday at the end of the 3rd quarter, there knelt Brandon Cox, in CBS/Sony high-definition glory, with an expression not unlike spatial disorientation. Only without a damned parachute. And no jumping buddy.
Apparently, spatial disorentation is contagious. Within seconds the entire sideline was infected. By the middle of the 4th quarter, I was thinking it was probably fatal, too. Blake Field and Kodi Burns must've died from it--they were nowhere to be seen.
By the end of it all we were Rodney King. Georgia was the LAPD.
45-20.
So it's done. Where do we go from here?
If history provides a decent framework, then we should be fine. Tubs was humilated yesterday. He doesn't take too kindly to getting his butt kicked on national television. Especially in CBS/Sony high-definition glory.
We have a week off to sit and stew. Bama has an easy opponent and then us. I'm not sure who will benefit the most over these next few weeks. We'll see.
I do know regardless of the outcome of the Iron Bowl, I love and support Coach Tuberville. Same goes for Brandon Cox. Our asses were kicked in the same manner the Dawgs were pummeled by UT. It's just been that kind of year. Sure, we're all bummed, but stay positive. We still have so much to play for. And this season's best game is right around the bend..
It's great to be an Auburn Tiger!
