"It's like this:"

Edited by Author at 10/7/2007 - 3:05 p.m.

Take the MNC completely out of the equation.  I'm referring to our position in the polls before the bowl games.

Let's say Auburn is lucky enough (we'd need it!) to somehow run the table and miraculously win the SEC Championship.  Let's also assume USC loses one more game to a decent South Florida style program (don't think they'll face anyone like that..maybe Cal?) and both the Tigers and Trojans finish with two losses.  Even if we were  to win the SEC Championship Game (which we learned in 2004 was really meaningless per ESPN) the Herbstreits, Corsos, et al., would hang the loss to Croom around our neck like a rotting, maggot infested albatross.  USC would be forgiven for their losses and would sit higher in the polls.  Need proof?  Hell, I don't have any.  All I can do is recall how USC was the media darling in '04 while we were told to shut it and stop complaining.

USC will not play anyone this season in an atmosphere as brutal as The Swamp or Death Valley.  They won't face a Tebow or a holy terror like Glen Dorsey.  Berkeley is not Baton Rouge and Eugene sho' aint Gainesville (a little Pat Dye inflection there)! CONTEXT ADDED BY ADMIN:
