The Old Orange and Blue - 2006
It's 2006 and the year of the thumb
as another bama loss left their fans feeling numb.
Yes, for the first time since the great Shug ran the show,
we've beaten bama five years in a row.
So, here's to our seniors that have fought through the strife
and earned themselves bragging rights for life,
and here's to the coaches that work the year through
for this team on the plains that wears orange and blue.
Now, all Auburn fans should take a look back
at how far we've come and how we're on track
for with Coach "T" at the helm and running this show,
the times we've been high have outnumbered the low.
But, something more that's abundantly clear,
that is a hallmark of these teams we hold dear
to be a man of honor and integrity too
is something required for that old orange and blue.
For the true Auburn man knows the Auburn Creed
and that it serves as a guide for thought and for deed.
Yes, it's nice to be among the nation's elite,
but the glamor and glory are things that are fleet.
It's what's in a man's heart that's the measure of him
and, if truth resides there, his light will never grow dim.
And, because I believe these things, I'll always be true
to that team on the plains that wears orange and blue.
So all Auburn fans should be of good cheer
and look at what our team has accomplished this year.
For many of our team played through their pain
and a 10 win season was what we gained.
And all bama fans can wait til next year
when we can all say "Hey, six is near".
And we will all hope that our team will win through
bringing home glory for that old orange and blue.
