Auburn made big plays and capitalized on them. Bama's coaching and strategy was highly suspect. Had I been a Bama fan (God forbid), I would have been furious about Shula's decisions to kick a FG on the first drive and his subsequent decision to chase points by going for 2 at the end of the first half and after the Bama score in the 3rd quarter. Absent injuries to all players capable of kicking extra points, it is rare to go for 2 point conversions that early in games. Because I am an Auburn fan, I am delighted that he made them, but I am realistic enough to recognize good fortune when I see it and old enough to know not to count on it.
