that I borrowed from the bunker earlier today...
** The SEC office has officially confirmed that the call on the field was correct, and that the decision in the pressbox to uphold the call was correct.
** Here's the objective analysis of what actually happened in the game:
-- Florida had the ball for 23 minutes. Auburn had the ball for 37 minutes. So, Florida's defense allowed Auburn to have the ball for virtually a full quarter more than the Gators.
-- Auburn had the ball in Florida's red zone five times. Auburn only got four field goals from those drives due to a lost fumble, an illegal procedure call on a long completion, and blown assignments giving up sacks. Florida was fortunate that Auburn didn't have 21-28 points in the first half.
-- After the Tebow touchdown ... basically in the final 35 minutes of the game ... Florida only had 83 yards of total offense, and about 40 of those came on one play.
-- In the second half, Florida had a lost fumble, had a punt blocked, an interception, gave up four sacks, and could get only about 80 yards in total offense.
So, let's get this right -- Your team gives up five possessions in the scoring zone and can't control the ball but 23 minutes in the entire game. It has only 80 yards in the second half, gives up four sacks and three turnovers. And, somehow it supposedly lost the game due to one controversial referee's call that has already been officially explained and supported by the conference office. Give me a break! No team that only has the ball for 23 minutes, in effect gives up five scoring drives, loses in all statistical categories, has its offense totally stuffed for an entire half, and has multiple turnovers deserves to win the game.
