Why is there so much angst every 4 years about why we don't 'get' soccer? $$$ Ah the American market. Soccer stars want the 300 million / 7 year deal? Americans get to choose what they want to watch and worship . . . which in an of itself causes a lot of problems. I 'get' baseball. But if you think I hang on every pitch, you're crazy. I am flipping back and forth between the Braves, Fox News, Discovery channel, etc. The ONLY reason I care is because it is the Braves. Baseball, like soccer, is a great game to play but watching it is boring as hell. The NBA not as boring but those rich punks running around crying just doesn't turn me on. And since Bird and Magic left and the Jordan fiefdom began I quit watching or caring. Pro football? Don't watch or care. There is ONLY one sport that even registers on my radar screen as a "I must watch this all the way thru". And that is college football, no SEC football. If there is an SEC football game on I must watch it. I am sure the german soccer fans feel the same way about their game . . . after all they grew up under its powerful spell just as we did here.
And that is the basic nature of this thing . . . I am sure soccer is no less complicated, no less strategic, no less wonderful . . . for a believer.
So I ask you why don't germans, english, brazilians 'get' Auburn football?
