"Another Little League story"

BabyDDS is 6 and playing her first year of coach pitch. She finally had a hit this week. Takes off running to first base. Next kid hits the ball. First base coach tells her to run. She does. Straight out into the outfield. So 1st base coach runs her down gets her headed to 2nd base. We all hold our breath as she rounds 2nd to see if she heads for the CF fence, but she rounds 2nd, heads for 3rd. But the kid playing short stop for the opposing team is a friend of hers, so she stops to chat with him. He's holding the ball. We're all yelling, "Run DDS, Run!" Other teams coaches/parents are all yelling, "Tag her, tag her!" They chat. Finish their conversation, BabyDDS runs on to 3rd base, SS throws the ball to the pitcher. Who misses the catch. BabyDDS runs home and scores! We get half way home, she's in back seat eating her ice cream and asks, "Mama, did we win or lose?" "Y'all won!" "Cool. Can we have pink t-shirts next year?"
