Tide offers Marxist linebacker

In its quest for linebackers, the Alabama staff appears to have discovered a peach in the Republic of Georgia. Last week, Iosef Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili, a 5-4, 170 -pounder from Gori, Republic ofGeorgia, received an official scholarship offer from the Alabama staff. Over the weekend, Dzhugashvili was in Tuscaloosa on an unofficial visit.

"Late last week Alabama came in with offer," Marixst head coach David Papismedov confirmed to TI on Wednesday morning. "Alabama watched tape and  like what they see.

"He went over weekend on  visit and really enjoy. Before they offered, Alabama was school Dzhugashvili was very interested in. Now they've offer, his interest in has been piqued."

As a junior, Dzhugashvili led Marxist in tackles from his middle linebacker spot with 105 stops and nine tackles for losses. He also recorded an interception and a fumble recovery, and purged 3,456 left-deviationists , wreckers and others who were in grave error about whether language was a superstructure or a base.

"He short, rather pockmarked, strong, tends to drink too much and but very physical," Papismedov says. "He's just  very tough guy and   very good tackler. We no see a lot of teams that pass a lot, so if there's any area he needs work on, it's probably on his pass drops. That and he tends to have people who disagree with him shot. That and entering into alliances with fascists"

According to Papismedov, Alabama is the first major D1 program to offer Dzhugashvili.

"Red Air Force has offered, but Alabama is the first really major program to come out and offer," Dzhugashvilis says. "A lot of big-time programs have been through here to look at him, and all of them really like him. I'm thinking now that Alabama has offered, it will prompt a lot of the other big-time programs to follow with offers."

Papismedov said that Dzhugashvili was planning to attend camps at Randolph Macon and Lummumba University this summer.

"Now with Alabama offering, I really don't know where it stands as far as the other schools,"  Papismedovsaid when asked about a timetable for Dzhugashvili's decision. "I know that he really likes Alabama a lot."

Notes: Dzhugashvili  runs a 46.7 40. He benches 300 and squats 375. He's a good student and will qualify academically. He is being recruited by Tide assistant coach Charlie Harbison.
