This kind of rant always reminds me of Oliver Stone's JFK -- in a conversation with the Joe Pesci "riddle wrapped in an enigma" character, Garrison says something to the effect of "people always suspect in others the sins of which they themselves are most guilty ... thieves think everyone is trying to steal from them, liars assume they're never hearing the truth, conspirators see conspiracies everywhere." The pure, unadulturated, bold faced irony of any Alabama fan referring to any other program as "cheaters" or typing any coach or program's name using dollar signs for Ss makes me want to laugh, cry, scream and throw up all at the same time. For crying out loud, YOUR BOOSTERS GOT CAUGHT BUYING A HIGH SCHOOL KID LIKE CHATTAL PROPERTY AT THE CROSSROADS. This is not conjecture. This is not rumor. This is substantiated fact demonstrated in an actual court of law.
I know other programs cheat. I know the program I support has cheated. I know it's very likely that all programs including Vanderbilt cheat to some degree, but being called a cheater by an Alabama fan is like being called a philanderer by Bill Clinton. It's like listening to OJ talk about searching for the real killers or listening to a welfare recipient complain that they don't get enough money to buy crack AND get their nails done. By God, I just don't think I can stand it.
